The final time I saw AJ... and, yes, it was my birthday! Please note that I updated this show with a newly mastered version (the mastering itself if roughly the same) on Oct. 19, 2019.  I put the first two songs of set 2 on disc 1, which allowed Sweet Thing to fit.  I think what happened back in the day when I mastered it the first time is that I figured since Sweet Thing was cut anyway (my battery died, and I quickly replaced it), I would keep each set on one disc.  I have now changed that...

A beautiful hometown show with a great crowd.  Please note that I uploaded a new version of this show on Oct. 20, 2019.  It is re-mastered (fairly similar, mostly), but includes two songs from the soundcheck. One bonus about this recording... "The Wind".  I was the only audience taper - there are soundboards out there somewhere, but they shut off the soundboard entirely for the finale, so this is the only version that has it at all.      Soundcheck Heal In Time Burden    ...

This was the first show of my epic tour with AJ.  My friend Nate came up with me and brought his D7.  I'm pretty sure that we jacked into somebody that was doing a "matrix" recording, so all we had control of was "record".  Unfortunately, either him or the soundboard feed was pretty messed up for the first couple of songs... it works out OK after that, but it kind of sucks in the beginning.  Hang in there, it gets better! The next night at the Fox , we got a pure SBD,...

Another brilliant show at the Iron Horse Music Hall!  What a beautiful crowd and an excellent audience recording (not mine, this time).  The Jazz Mandolin Project opened up, and that set has already been uploaded to the Archive -so check it out!  The recording setup noted here has been copied from that set description. recorded  "phisham" John Isham   [formerly isham@jeremy.ecs.umass.edu - now defunct] I did the transfer and mastering for CD. Note the fairly rare Curtis songs...

To paraphrase the great Loudon Wainwright III: " Taping on acid is easy.... taping on acid's a breeze. Just keep your fingers off the dials.... and don't laugh, don't fart and don't sneeze! " Welcome to the second part of my rant!  These "Two Trippin' A-Holes" that taped this show didn't even make it for the first set, and did a pretty mediocre job when they did bother to show up. I'm putting this on The Archive for a couple of reasons, however. 1)  As a cautionary tale...

First,  let me apologize on the behalf of "Tweedledee and Tweedledum", the so-called tapers.  I left "Think About It" completely out of this upload, since it was so badly mangled... the first few seconds of "Bombay Bound" will give a sense of what it was like for most of the song.  According to my notes, it was taped by "two trippin' a-holes", and I believe it...  If anyone has a better copy of this show, please let me know! This taught me two things...

Another one from my cassette collection.  A fairly standard setlist, I'd say.  The one real stand-out for me is the Madame Butterfly at double-time ... that's unusual!  Oddly, there are TWO cuts in Build a Road... I don't know if one was from the master and it ended up differently on the first generation, or if the soundboard cut out for a bit, or what.  Also, there is a little bit of crackling before one of the cuts, but mostly it sounds like an analog soundboard. Intro > Heal In Time...
